Jaws and Windows7-a few questions

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of getting a netbook, but I only have jaws 10, and am wondering how I could go about using windows seven, as that appears to be the only version of windows available on netbooks sold at Best Buy. From what I've been told, there are accessibility issues. I know that I could potentially down-grade to xp, but have been told there will be issues related to having the right drivers. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

10 does work with 7 for the most part but a few features of it doesn't work , for example the insert+F11 to bring up the system tray icons, but win key+B is a windows shortcut and a work around for such thing. I used it with 10 with no real issues for a while before i was able to get my hands on Jaws 11.

Ah really? ok, that's good to know. Can you do most things like navigate the internet, type e-mails, enter in passwords, etc.?

You can get a netbook with XP and Jaws 10 will work just fine with that. XP will be supported until about 2014, so you have lots of time to use it. 10 will work with 7 with the above issues, but the net and things work fine. I'd get XP on my netbook, then when the time comes I had Jaws 11 I'd upgrade to Window 7. A decent netbook and the 250 price to upgrade Jaws are about the same, so. Smile. Dell's Inspiron 1012 you have have with XP, Vista with service pack 2, or Win 7 starter.

The calculator doesn't work, and jaws will read as not selected in Windows Explorer. Other than those issues, I don't have much trouble.

As someone has said already, no, the insurt f11 key wont work for some versions of 10, but I think the last versions of it before 11 was released had that issue fixt. I'm not sure though seeing as that I don't use jaws anymore, using NVDA here.

no, no versions of 10 can do it, think it was the way 11 was written to interact with win 7 that fixed it

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium with the latest JAWS 11 on an Acer Ferari one-200 netbook but there are still issues with JAWS 11. For instance, System restore can remove your JAWS ILM authorisation, so watch out for that, not sure what the situation is relating to that little setback and JAWS 10 with Windows 7, but surely, you can remap the system tray keystroke so it does the same thing if you use JAWS 10 with Windows 7?

It's not the keystroke that doesn't work, it's the actual script related to that key stroke that doesn't work.
